1.0 Preamble

This course is meant to expose the post-‘O’ Level student teacher to the sociological basis of education. This is intended to equip the student teacher with professional skills and attitudes that are relevant and consistent with meaningful teaching and learning situations in secondary schools. The course is also meant to develop a teacher who has acquired the skills of enquiry, critical thinking and adaptability in order to keep abreast with trends in the education system; is constantly aware of his/her country’s needs and; is committed to Zimbabwean issues such as education for development.
