Teachers at all levels of education, including those in higher education or in company training, need to be able to use symbol systems that are useable to convey knowledge to and from the students and how it can be shared through technology. In this regard, the course is aimed at equipping the in service trainee teachers with the technological knowledge and skills needed to appropriately address the needs of contemporary digital learner in the global village. The course explores and evaluates the different types of media and educational technologies and their appropriateness for the curriculum. The trainee teachers will develop the ability to select multimedia and technology that is useable in teaching and learning in their fields within and outside the classroom environment. In addition, the course examines the role of learner model (characteristics of the leaner) in the integration of technology to promote student learning. Emphasis in the course will be on hands-on activities and independent learning. The course will help the learners grow as education professionals and understand the broader context of educational technology.
