The course seeks to equip students with knowledge of a wide range of environmental hazards, their nature, causes and impacts. Further it intends to develop a sense of relative location, including an appreciation of the complexity and variety of environmental hazards. It tries to demonstrate and explain the causes and effects of environmental hazards through various methods like photo visioning and case studies. An assessment of the structural and non-structural disaster reduction and mitigation measures is considered. That is, the general management of hazards is given particular attention. In addition, the general distribution of environmental hazards is discussed.
