The course aims at equipping students with relevant remote sensing and GIS practical skills, which are indispensable in understanding natural resources management (NRM) issues. It is an advanced course that incorporates the theoretical and practical applications of the remote sensing and GIS tools in NRM. The course appreciates the various applications of both remote sensing and GIS that include data capture, organisation/management, analysis and modelling, and visualisation and remote sensing on diverse ecological discourse including biodiversity, biogeography, species conservation, preservation and monitoring, habitat mapping, and population variability. It fuses the spatial analyses capability of geography and connects it with NRM. This course seeks to equip students with relevant geo-technical hands-on skills to produce and use a map as an indispensable geographical tool useful to solve natural resources problems.
